Hot springs in Krabi, Thailand. Fang Hot Springs - the best hot springs in northern Thailand! Where are Fang Hot Springs?

Hot springs in Thailand
Natural hot springs are believed to have certain healing properties. The warmth and minerals contained in the water are recommended to treat certain diseases, relieve psychological stress, reduce some skin diseases, relieve back and muscle pain, and also have a beneficial effect on overall physical well-being. Natural hot springs have been discovered in a number of areas in Thailand. Some have been developed into tourist attractions, and some even offer health care packages including mineral baths, Thai traditional massage, and a gym. In Thailand, almost all hot springs contain radon.

Northern Thailand famous for its many hot springs. In the north, for example, along the river that leads to Ching Rai from the city of Ban Tak. The water there is so hot that local Thais, as an attraction, offer to boil eggs in this water. One of the most famous is in San Kamphaeng Chiang Mai and has a full package of medical treatment. San Kamphaeng hot springs. Located 36 km from the city in the middle of beautiful nature. These waters are said to be high in sulfur and have healing and restorative properties. You can stay here, there are swimming pools, restaurants, private bathrooms with mineral water. Nearby San Kamphaeng is the private hot spring Rung Arun.

Also known are the Pong Din hot springs, located 13 km from Wat Doi Saket. They are located right off Highway 118 leading to Chiang Rai. According to the sign, these sources are the highest (by location) in Thailand. The area around is ennobled by a Spa resort. There are also many souvenir shops and restaurants here. A temple complex in the Khmer style is being built nearby.

In addition, in Chiang Mai, in the Mae Taeng district there is a hot spring called Pa Pae (Pong Nam Duet). It is considered one of the most beautiful because it is not put on a commercial basis, and is located in a good park in a picturesque valley. The source is located on the 142nd km of road No. 1095, 17 km before Pai. Pong Duad Hot Spring, also known as Pa Pae Hot Spring, is the first place that tourists who come to this area usually go. These are some of the largest hot springs in the province. A 500m long path leads from the parking lot to the site. A beautiful garden has been planted around the springs, the area is decorated and equipped with mineral baths, a campsite, a restaurant and everything necessary to receive tourists. Pong Duad Hot Springs are geyser-type springs that have high temperature and pressure, and erupt from the ground 24 hours a day to a height of up to 4 meters.

Fang Province, at the northernmost tip of the country, has about 50 thermal springs. In other northern provinces, the hot springs of Lampang (Jae Son hot spring), and Mae Hong Son (Muang Paeng and Pa Bong hot springs) are famous.

Ranong. Another famous hot spring is located in Ranong Province in the south of Thailand. Situated in the Raksavarin Forest Park, the private resort has received the right to use the mineral water from this hot spring for commercial purposes. Currently, the resort offers a full range of medical and recreational services. The most famous hotel in the resort is the Royal Princess Hotel. Situated in the heart of the commercial district, this hotel is located on the west coast of southern Thailand and is approximately 30 minutes' drive from Ranong Airport. It has natural hot springs and a mineral water pool.

Phetchaburi. Nong Ya Plong Hot Spring in Phetchaburi is the closest hot spring to Hua Hin. It is located 30 km west of Phetchaburi. There are special bathrooms near the source, where for a small fee (20-30 baht) you can take radon treatments. It is convenient to combine trips to this source from Hua Hin with visits to temples in Phetchaburi.

Krabi. Namtok Ron Khlong Thom Hot Waterfall is located 40 kilometers south of Krabi. You can get to it via Highway 4. There, in one place you can visit Hot Springs (Hot Stream Waterfall) and Crystal Pond (Sa Morakot - Crystal Pond). There are many signs along the road. Entrance to the source costs 90 baht plus 20 baht for parking a car. A 200-meter path along the stream will first lead to stone baths, but it is better to go a little further, to a hot waterfall. There are showers and toilets nearby. The waterfall consists of approximately 5 steps, each of which is like a small pool. The signs say: water temperature is approximately 40 degrees; mineral composition (mg/l) – lead less than 0.0001, nitrogen 0.09, fluoride 1.09, copper less than 0.0001. For a healing effect, it is recommended to spend at least 20 minutes in water. The water is very clean, and there are many natural ledges in the bath itself, so there is plenty of room to sit comfortably. The waterfall flows into a river, where you can also swim. The hot waterfall is very popular among Thais, so it is quite difficult to find a free natural ledge, but you can bask in the artificial pool alone.

Kanchanaburi. Hin Dat Hot Spring in Kanchanaburi is located at Kilometer 103 of Highway 323. The spring has two decent hot water pools located in the shade of beautiful trees. There is a river with cold water flowing nearby, where you can cool off after the procedure. There are also showers. Near the spring there is the Phatad Valley Hot Spring Hotel, which is convenient to use as a stopover for an overnight stay when traveling around the Kanchanaburi province.

Ratchaburi. Bo Khloung Hot Stream is located five kilometers from the village of Suan Phung. The mountain stream is filled with mineral water flowing from the Tanaosi ridge. The water temperature ranges between 50-68 degrees Celsius. On the way to the hot stream, a fork in the road leads to the Kao Chon waterfall, which consists of 9 cascades. The waterfall fills with a stream at the end of the rainy season. Many people come here because they believe that the healing water can be used to treat the skin. The walk to level 9 will take about two hours.
Pong Krathing Hotspring The hot spring is located in the village of Phu Nam Ron south of Pan Bueng in the Ban Kha district of Ratchaburi province. You can get to the source along Highway 3206 (about 60 km from Highway 4). Distance from Pranburi (Hua Hin) – 197 km. There are baths at the spring.

There are radon springs near the island of Phuket (http://www.thehotspringbeach.com/index.htm).

In Thailand, there are organizations that monitor all hot springs in terms of their safety for humans. Here, for example, is the data published by Chiang Mai University:
Health Risk Factors in Natural Springs (Potentially Hazardous Contaminants in Thai Hot Springs).
Research into the potential hazards of contaminants present in some hot springs can be summarized as follows:.

(1) Dissolved radon is present in many hot springs. If radon levels exceed 11 Bq/l, it can be hazardous to health if the gas is allowed to escape into the atmosphere. Radon content in water less than 11Bq/l is not dangerous to human health.
(2) Legionella pneumophila – serological group microorganisms have been found in several Thai hot springs. These microorganisms can affect humans, but cannot cause Legionaires' disease or Pontiac fever.
(3) Pathogenic free-living amoebas from the genus and Acanthameba found in several Thai hot springs. They can be the source of several life-threatening infections. A fatal rapidly form of primary amebic meningoencephalitis is caused by N.fowleri. So Naegleria may cause a form of the fatal disease meningoencephalitis. Acanthameba may cause chronic damage to the lungs, skin, middle ear and brain in immunocompromised individuals.

All natural springs are popular tourist attractions and health authorities are fully aware of the possible hazards and are taking all precautions to ensure safety without causing undue alarm to foreign visitors and Thai residents.

Hello to all Thailand lovers.

Today we will share our impressions of visiting the famous hot springs in Krabi province.

The hot springs played a decisive role in choosing Krabi as a destination for our little vacation.

It’s worth noting right away that there are several hot springs here and all of them require a long drive from Krabi town, so be sure to take a bike to the arena (necessarily with a full-face helmet) or a car.

Cost of visiting hot springs

All sources are paid. Those that are relatively close to Krabi town have a landscaped area on which the resort is built. Several clean swimming pools, jacuzzi and all that.

The cost of visiting is 600 baht without accommodation. It seemed a little expensive to us, because further on there are other sources, more natural, in the improvement of which man took the least part. That's where we headed. Entry is only 100 baht per person.

There are several swimming pools of different sizes and water temperatures on site. In the hottest pool, the water reaches a temperature of 47 degrees. It's very hot. It's so hot that no one can get in there. Everyone swims in the neighboring pools, where it is also hot, but not so unbearable.

I also want to note that the road to these sources is not pleasant. First of all, it's very far away. It takes more than an hour to drive one way, and only if you drive fast. Secondly, despite the fact that the asphalt is smooth, there is a lot of dust and debris along the edges, which constantly flies into your eyes. So riding in a helmet without glass is a real challenge. Small specks even flew under my glasses. We arrived at the springs with red eyes.

But, despite the difficulties of the road, the place is cool. This is two in one: both interesting and useful.

Swimming in such springs is good for health, there are even interesting stories about the amazing healing of people who came to Thailand with their health problems, settled near the springs and swam in them every day, this led to the healing of their ailments.

There are toilets, showers and changing rooms on site. The water in the source is salty. I want to warn you right away that the bottom of the pools is slippery, because in the water, despite the high temperature, the only type of green algae that resembles mud lives and thrives. Sasha confidently stepped into the water and fell, because he did not expect such a trick. So, be careful.

Also, take water with you, there are no shops on site, but you will definitely want to drink.

The springs are very hot during the day, so we recommend going there in the afternoon. There are not many people, mostly Thais with children, and towards evening Europeans arrive. We liked it there and, judging by the reaction of the vacationers, they liked it too.

It’s an indescribable feeling when, after a hard journey, tired and hot, you plunge into boiling water... You come out of the pool and feel cool, despite the fact that it’s hot outside. There's something to it. We recommend everyone try it.

If you want to see how we were at these hot springs, then watch our video below. This episode depicts Sasha's fall, which resulted in him drowning the microphone. Enjoy watching.

Hot springs are a must-see in northern Thailand. In my opinion, these are the best hot springs! We came here for the first time in the spring of 2013 during our first and I was so impressed by this place, it was so nice and calm there that I dreamed of returning to this park both on cold winter Moscow evenings and hot Samui-Phuket evenings :)

Hot geyser at Fang Hot Springs

Where are Fang Hot Springs?

The springs are located near the city of Phang in the Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park. From Chiang Mai to Fang Hot Springs it is about 155 km along Highway 107.

The first time we drove from Chiang Dao, where we visited. There are very beautiful views along the road, high mountains and fields all around: cabbage, potatoes, and rice are grown here. Many small temples along the road. It took us an hour and a half to get from Chiang Dao.

On the road from Chiang Dao to Fang, you can turn left and visit Doi Angkhang Mountain. You can get to the very top, which is about 1900 meters above sea level, by car. At the top of Doi Angkhang there are observation platforms, a large agricultural center - a park, where sakura blooms in January, and magnolias in autumn!

How to get there

  • By your own transport. You can get there by bike, but it's better
  • Take a bus or minibus from Ching Mai to Phang (depart from Chang Phueak Bus Terminal just north of the square), and then take a taxi

Cost of visiting hot springs

Fang Hot Springs is located on site Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park, entrance to the national park for foreign citizens

as much as 300 baht per adult and 150 baht per child. For comparison, the entrance fee for Thais is 50 baht. We showed them how they gave us a discount and charged us 150 baht, i.e. as for children :) They gave a discount on Lesha’s rights for both of us, and not just for him! This, of course, made us happy, otherwise we didn’t want to pay 300 baht at all... In 2013, we paid 200 baht per person.

Hot springs in Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park

In addition to paying for entry to the territory, you must additionally pay extra if you wish:

  • Private mineral baths in the houses - 50 baht per adult, 20 baht per child
  • Shared mineral baths - 20 baht for adults, 10 baht for children
  • Sauna - 20 baht for adults, 10 baht for children
  • Towel rental - 20 baht
  • Rent a swimsuit - 10 baht :)

Prices for hot tubs and saunas
Here they sell tickets and other little things

The first time we arrived in the evening, there were no people at all and we somehow got into the private baths (in the house) completely free of charge. The last time we arrived early in the morning, we decided to go to the common open-air baths, I was going to pay for the visit, but they told me that the visit was free. Maybe they decided not to take money from foreigners, who already paid a large amount to enter the park? By the way, in November 2018 the sauna was not working.

If desired, you can have a massage nearby. The massage at these hot springs was highly praised, but we didn’t check it out because we were too lazy. So for us, for now, the best massage in the north of Thailand is at Prices for massage at Fang Hot Springs in the photo below:

Prices for massage

National park area with hot springs

The park area where Fang Hot Springs is located is very large.

On the territory of Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park:

  • tourist center
  • several large parking lots
  • a couple of cafes, coffee shop
  • free mineral water foot pool
  • private mineral water baths
  • shared mineral water baths
  • mineral sauna
  • massage parlor
  • Valley of Geysers
  • a large geyser that shoots out once every 30-40 minutes to a height of 30-40 meters
  • a place where you can boil eggs in hot water (the Thais love this!)
  • river Mae Jai Stream
  • houses where you can stay (from 800 baht per day, you need to reserve on the website of the national parks of Thailand)
  • picnic areas and tent sites.

Thai families love to come here, especially on weekends. When we were at Fang Hot Springs for the first time, a crowd of locals in office clothes arrived - it looked like they were having a corporate party there :) The second time we found a huge crowd of schoolchildren!

We walked only a small part of the national park. The territory is very well-groomed, flowers bloom everywhere, clean air, birds sing. Paradise! First we looked at the big geyser, and then we went to take mineral baths.

Cabins with baths

These cabins have private mineral baths. You have to pay extra for them, but the first time we didn’t understand where :) So we just went into the house, locked ourselves in, undressed and got into the bath.

We have already seen such baths at hot springs, but then we thought that they were not working. It turns out you just need to go in and fill up the water. There are taps with hot (very hot!) mineral water and cold regular water.

Taking mineral baths

Fang springs have mineral water with a high sulfur content. This mineral water improves metabolism and is useful for those with joint disease.

Everywhere the inscriptions are only in Thai!
There is a shower with cold water And we didn’t see any foreign tourists there. You cannot sit in a mineral bath for a long time. Therefore, we spent 20-30 minutes there and went on to walk around the territory.

Next to the private baths there is a sauna and public baths. There is a locker room where you can leave your things in a locker.

Changing room, toilet, cold shower, lockers

Two mineral saunas:

And two baths, separate for men and women. But no one pays attention to this division, everyone sits together!

Baths for women
I'm resting :)

After swimming and warming up in the saunas, we took a shower (there is a cold shower in the locker room) and went for another walk around the area.

It was good to walk, but we had to go further... Although we didn’t want to go anywhere anymore. We relaxed in the baths, it would have been optimal to have a massage... But we didn’t have time 🙁 The clock showed 6 pm, it was starting to get dark. There was an idea to spend the night here in the houses at Fang Hot Springs. But we discarded this thought, because then we would not have time to visit other attractions according to our plan.

Where to stay

1. In houses on the territory of the national park. The cost of the houses is 800 baht / 1500 baht / 2000 baht. Book either through the national park website or, if you’re lucky, on the spot. According to unverified data, there is a discount from Tuesday to Thursday!

2. In hotels in Fang. For example:

  • , .

Ranong province is not known to the average tourist who comes to Thailand for a couple of weeks. This is not a popular tourist destination. Although Ranong also has its own islands: Phayam, Chang and other smaller ones with deserted beaches, bordered by palm trees and casuarinas. And I’ll tell you about mainland Ranong, which is literally crammed with natural attractions. My favorite is the hot springs. Don't miss them when you're in Ranong.

In fact, there are several hot springs in Ranong province. Some of them are located in national parks - Lamnam Kraburi National Park and Ngao National Park, others can be found by the sign along the road - Phu Lum Phi Hot Spring. The best hot springs that I recommend you visit are located within the city and are called Raksawarin Hot Springs & Public Park.

Pools at Tinidee Ranong Hotel

The park is located very close to the center of Ranong. Its territory is equipped with all amenities, there is a shower and toilet, and there are restaurants, hotels and spa centers nearby. The Tinidee Ranong even has its own private swimming pool with healing water.

Source with a temperature of 65 degrees

The hot springs in Raksawarin Park are one of the most popular in Thailand. In 1890, King Rama V himself visited them. Now the park is an area along the river with several swimming pools. The temperature in the main source is 65 degrees, in the pools - 40 degrees.

Hot springs Raksavarin

Entrance to the hot springs area is free. Bring your swimwear and towels. Please remove your shoes before entering, change into your swimwear and shower before entering the pool. As you can see, Thais are fans of swimming with their clothes on. Do not use shampoo or soap while in a hot tub.

Hot water pools

Bathing time in the springs should not exceed 10-15 minutes. Then you can rest for 3-5 minutes and immerse yourself in hot water again. Consider how you feel; taking hot baths more than 3 times a day is not recommended. People with open wounds, skin irritations, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, or people under the influence of alcohol are not allowed to swim in the springs. You cannot bring food or drinks into the park, with the exception of water.

Gazebo with heated floor

On the territory of Raksavarin Park there is a gazebo with a heated floor. People come there to warm up, lying on a hot stone. A source flows below and heats the floor. Local Thais lay out their towels and lie there for 20 minutes before visiting the pools. However, you can come here after water treatments.

Raksawarin hot springs can be visited if you go to. It’s a nice place to relax after a long journey so that you can set off on the return journey with renewed vigor.

Raksawarin Hot Springs & Public Park
Address: Chon Ra-u Road, Tambon Khao Niwet, Amphoe Mueang Ranong
Coordinates: 9.958619, 98.651118
Opening hours: from 5 am to 9 pm

This country has many hot and thermal springs that are popular among tourists. Many of them are well known, and many are not included in tourist routes. Just like, thermal springs in Thailand are widely used in excursion programs.

Krabi Hotspring.

Krabi Hotspring is considered one of the most visited thermal springs in Thailand. They are not exactly tourist destinations, but are visited by most tourists. Usually Thais come here, but many guests of the country also pay attention to the thermal spring. True, you need to get to this place on your own, but it is not difficult, since the source is located 12 km from the airport, which has the same name - Krabi.

Krabi Hotspring is a hot spring that comes straight out of the ground. Its temperature reaches 110 degrees, and through the pipes the water from the source flows directly into the pools. In the pools themselves, the water is of different temperatures: in some it is 45 degrees, in others it is 30. They are surrounded by bright tropical greenery, and paths and small wooden bridges run to both pools. It should be noted that the territory itself where the thermal springs are located is rather neglected and unkempt. The existing fountains and swings are broken and do not work. Apparently, the hot spring, which is not included in the tourist route, does not need special care, local residents believe.
The cost of entering the area of the springs varies for Thais and tourists. Local residents pay from 10 to 20 baht, foreign guests - from 30 to 50.

Natha Vori Hotspring Crab and Namtok Ron Klong Vol.

Near the “wild” spring, there is another, civilized one - Nattha Waree Hotsprings Krabic. This hydropathic resort has rooms with its own thermal springs. Their number reaches 20, and the number of common pools is 8. Entrance to the hydropathic area is much higher than a regular hot spring and costs 300 baht.
Another popular source and already included in the tourist route is Namtok Ron Khlong Thom. It is usually called a thermal waterfall. It is located near Krabi-town, just 14 km away and features a waterfall and an open-air steam room. The water in the source heats up to 40 degrees, thanks to volcanic hot springs. This waterfall can be called a “natural sauna” with healthy mineral water. The healing effect can be achieved in 20 minutes of staying in this source.

Emerald Pool.

In close proximity to the thermal waterfall is the Emerald Pool (Sra Morakot). The name speaks for itself - the color of the reservoir shimmers in all shades of green depending on the time of day and the incoming light, thanks to algae and various bacteria. The pool takes on a truly emerald color at dawn. This source is a picturesque pond located in the forest. The emerald pool is located on the territory of the beautiful Khao Phra Bang Khram Nature Reserve, so you can not only take a dip in the source, but also wander around the surroundings of the park.

The pond is really beautiful, it has different banks - one is rocky, sloping, and on the other there are trees growing in dense rows. There are two roads leading to the pool: one is a specially created path almost 800 m long, the second is a natural path 1400 m long. A sign at this source has an inscription that this is a natural pool with hot springs up to 2 meters deep, the water temperature is about 30 degrees, and has a diameter of 25 meters. The thermal springs in the basin are underwater and enter the reservoir from hot springs located upstream.
The cost of visiting the Emerald Pool is 100 baht for children, 200 baht for adults, parking is also paid - 20 baht. Visiting hours are from 8 am to 5 pm.
This source is not the only one in this place; after 500 m, if you go upstream, you can see an even more beautiful lake with incredibly clear blue water. There is a geyser at the bottom of the reservoir, which can be easily seen. The name confirms the color of this lake - Blue. This is the very center of a large tropical forest, shrouded in mystery and mysticism. Many tourists simply do not know about this amazingly beautiful place, and locals are too lazy to go up to it, so you can very rarely meet people there.

Ta Pai.

Another popular thermal spring is located in the north of Thailand and is called Tha Pai. It is on the map and it won't be difficult to find it. The road to it is paved, and along it you can calmly, admiring the surroundings, get to the source. The temperature in the reservoir reaches 80 degrees, and locals always advise boiling eggs here, which is very interesting and very exotic. Of course, in those places where people bathe, the water in the source is not hot, and you can calmly lie down on the water and enjoy your vacation. Entrance is 200 baht. Further away there is another source - Muang Paeng. The water in this spring is even hotter, but entry is free.
All these springs are one of the main attractions of Thailand and many tourists visit them all year round.
