Elite cocktails and the best bars in the world! Which hotels make the best cocktails in the world!? Bars of America The world's largest bar

On the eve of the holidays, we remember the best bars in Moscow, St. Petersburg and 10 other European cities: from beer gardens to secret cocktail speakeasies.

Moscow

Chainaya. Tea & Cocktails- the most famous speakeasy (that is, secret bar) in Moscow. You can’t just get here: it’s possible either through friends or by calling - and that’s not a fact. Of course, if you happen to get here, then ordering a standard mojito is simply a sin. Try something unusual, such as Periodista Viejo, based on rum infused with dates and cardamom, with orange and apricot liqueurs. Chainaya has been named one of the world's 50 best bars for the second year in a row.

Noor— one of the best bars in Moscow with very bright lighting. It is located next to the Stanislavsky Electrotheater, so theatergoers love to come here before or after attending performances. The main cocktail here is the “Pomegranate Tini” (550 rubles). We also recommend trying Caipirihna de uva - a grape caipirinha (480 rubles) - or an Old Fashioned cocktail based on bourbon, scotch or rye whiskey, which is considered the official cocktail of the International Bartenders Association.

Saint Petersburg

El Copitas- a secret bar with Mexican food. This year it was included in the list of the 50 best bars in the world. The interior is reminiscent of a small Mexican house with cacti and brick walls, one of which depicts a nude Frida Kahlo. The bar itself is open only on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and the owners of the establishment ask you to make an appointment in advance and not be late. So don't go there spontaneously.

"Dance floor“- this summer the team of the popular Mishka bar opened a spacious dance club. The “Dance Floor” premises are divided into a restaurant-bar and a dance floor. The club also has a separate bar in the courtyard. For food here you can try burgers, falafel, turkey satsivi and kebab. The prices for cocktails in the bar list are slightly higher than in Mishka. For a large group, you can order the “Kitki” set of ten shots based on rum with passion fruit (1,200 rubles) or the establishment’s signature cocktails for 300-400 rubles: “Molodost”, “Biba and Boba” and Jungle Fever.

Sochi

Cocos— a lounge bar in the city center with daily DJ performances. According to tourists, the best cocktails in Sochi are made here. In addition to alcoholic drinks, there is delicious food: pizza, rolls, tapas and other snacks. But it’s worth keeping in mind that Cocos has strict face control.

CORKs Wine Bar & Kitchen— a cozy wine bar in a loft style. Wine is the focus here: each dish is specially prepared to bring out the taste of this drink. You can try special sets for white or red wine, or the usual cheese plate. A sommelier will always help you with your choice. By the way, lovers of non-standard tastes can try violet marshmallows or brownies with tarragon ice cream.

Tbilisi

Pur Pur- a vintage cafe with the best Georgian wines and cocktails in the Old Town. This is a favorite place for Tbilisi youth, for whom Pur Pur is a flashback to the past. Although ten years ago, when the bar first opened, it was not very popular among the locals, because the interior resembles an old apartment in Tbilisi.

Lolita- a trendy restaurant opposite the Rooms Hotel in the bohemian Vera district. The restaurant is divided into different zones by floor: on the ground floor there is a New York restaurant, the second is a fashionable DJ bar where European and American DJs perform, and the third floor is for private parties and presentations. The bar has a large selection of vodka-based cocktails, as well as the signature Lolita drink.

Tel Aviv

Library Bar located in The Norman Hotel with a 1940s-style interior. The menu includes a large selection of craft cocktails and wines, as well as signature tapas from the Library chef. By the way, at noon guests are offered to drink traditional English tea.

"223" is one of the most popular cocktail bars in Tel Aviv, and it is also considered the best contact bar. Here you should try signature cocktails, which the bartender will help you choose. By the way, “223” offers discounts: every day from 18:00 to 20:00 all cocktails are sold at half price.

Riga

Spot Cafe. It is recommended to come here to drink shots and cocktails before going to a party in the clubs. Drink prices are liberal: shots cost 2-3 euros. The bar is located in the Old Town, which is convenient for tourists to have a drink after visiting the sights.

Labietis— a brewery with the best Latvian craft beer. The bar has 12 main types of beer, and there are also flavor variations for each type: some of them with herbal flavors (cumin, yarrow, heather, propolis). They will also tell you about the process of creating each type of beer, so it can be considered a kind of excursion.

Brussels

A La Mort Subite- this bar is over 100 years old, and from the outside it looks the same as it did in 1910. Here you can try Trappist beer - Belgian ale, which is brewed in the breweries of ancient monasteries. For food, A La Mort Subite offers only snacks, sandwiches and omelettes.

Delirium Cafe. Of course, in Belgium it is difficult to surprise with a large selection of beer, but here you will find more than 2,400 beer brands from 60 countries. Moreover, at Delirium you can try different types of beer in yellow, red or green colors.

Berlin

Soju. Soju is a traditional Korean alcoholic drink and the bar of the owner of the Kimchi Princess restaurant in the German capital. The establishment serves German beer, soju and cocktails based on it. There is a spacious dance floor in the center of the hall, and the interior imitates the main streets of Seoul. DJ sets are constantly playing here (mostly minimal techno and deep house). But if you are tired of dancing, you can “rest” in the toilet, where there is a karaoke machine with the main hits of the 80s.

Stagger Lee considered one of the best bars in Europe. The name of this establishment comes from an American folk song about the murder in St. Louis on Christmas Day 1895, so the interior of the bar is made in the style of the Wild West. Stagger Lee has a large selection of bourbon, whiskey and cocktails.

Barcelona

Vino y Otros Remedios- the name is translated into Russian as “Wine and other medicines.” Considered one of the best wine bars in Barcelona. Along with local wine, they offer various types of tapas. The food portions are large, at reasonable prices, and everything is always served with bread.

Boadas Cocktails is the oldest cocktail bar in Barcelona, opened in 1933. The facade itself and the interior design have been preserved. All bartenders wear a tuxedo to keep the spirit of the 30s. There is not much space inside, but weather conditions in the city allow you to leave the veranda open all year round. In addition to a large number of signature cocktails, you can try the best local wines here.

Paris

Dirty Dick. A Polynesian themed bar in the Pigalle district, Paris' red light district. Inside the establishment there are a large number of exotic plants, Polynesian totems, and most cocktails are served in miniature totems. All this is aimed at making guests feel like they are part of the mythology of the Maori tribe. Dirty Dick offers 55 types of rum, so it's worth trying cocktails based on this drink with the addition of exotic fruits.

Legrand filleset Fils located in the heart of Paris. This is one of the oldest wine bars in Paris, opened in 1880. The establishment occupies a small part of the store: it mainly sells local wine (as many as 311 brands), sweets, cheeses, fresh produce, as well as books and souvenirs.

Amsterdam

Bar Jones- a quiet and cozy bar on Dam Square not far from the red light district. Here you can play pool with friends, drink local and Belgian beer and try Pimm's cocktails. Free snacks are served with alcoholic drinks.

Whiskeycafe L&B. This bar has about 1,500 types of whiskey and bourbon from Scotland, Ireland, America, Canada, Japan and even India. Sometimes the bar staff, at your personal request, can arrange tastings, since they take the choice of alcohol very seriously.

Stockholm

Akkurat- a beer bar in the center of Stockholm. Akkurat's main mission is to discover and support small breweries to create a “beer culture.” Their menu includes 26 Swedish and more than 600 beer brands around the world. In addition to beer, they offer a large selection of whiskey and vegetarian snacks.

Kåken considered one of the best bars in the city. The establishment is hidden behind the door of the Niklas restaurant. Cocktails are made in the Swedish way: they add syrups from pine cones, elderberries and apples. Kåken also has a fairly extensive selection of organic beer. This is perhaps the most Swedish bar in Stockholm.

1. "The Brandy Library"
NEW YORK, USA

To the question “How to get to the library?” the answer “What kind of library can there be at three o’clock in the morning” will not be relevant. After all, this drinking establishment is an intellectual bar. They read labels here, but they teach not new words at all, but the names of drinks. The interior of the bar, as is clear from the name, is made in the style of a library, but on the shelves there are not books, but more than 900 types of brandy, single malt and blended whiskey, rum, cognac and liqueur. The picture is complemented by jazz evenings, which, together with the general atmosphere, immerse visitors in the atmosphere of old New York. This bar has become the most popular among tourists visiting the American metropolis.

2. Coyote Ugly Bar,
Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan

What is the best bar in Moscow with a dance floor, of course this is the Coyote Ugly bar. Coyote Ugly seats 600 people and is known for its playful bartenders, upbeat music and late-night dancing! 3. “Big Baobab Pub” (“Big Baobab”)
SUNLAND FARM, LIMPOPO PROVINCE, South Africa

Who said you need a lot of money to open your own bar? In Africa, they just found the world's largest tree and converted it into a bar for tourists, which is now famous among tourists all over the world. The bar, despite its unusual appearance, has a quite ordinary interior. The indigenous peoples of South Africa associate many legends with the baobab tree. The giant baobab from the Limpopo province is no less than 6,000 years old and about 60 people can easily be there at the same time. The idea of how to open a bar in such an unusual way came to local businessman Van Heerdens and in 1993 the bar received its first visitors. The bar's selection of drinks is quite standard, the main one being beer. The advantage of this establishment, located in the south of the hot continent, is that it always has a pleasant temperature (+22 C).

4. "Dick's Last Resort"
USA

This is a US chain of bars and restaurants. The highlight of this establishment is its outstanding service. All boors, foul-mouthed people and bullies are gathered here, because only such people are hired at Dick’s Last Resort. Neither the administrator nor the complaint book in this bar will help you. Insulting and humiliating visitors is one of the responsibilities of the service staff.

5. “Museum HR Giger Bar” (“Museum Giger Bar”)
GRUEYRE, SWITZERLAND

Sometimes glamorous bars get so boring that you want to spend time in a place where there will actually be something new and original. This is exactly the principle that the sculptor and designer, the legendary artist Hans Rudolf Giger, adhered to before opening this bar. It was he who once created the concept of creatures and artistic design in Ridley Scott's film Alien, and then founded a museum where he exhibits his best works. But perhaps one of Giger's most impressive creations is the museum bar, opened in 2003. Every detail of the bar’s interior gives visitors the feeling that they find themselves inside an alien ship from the movie “Alien” or simply in another reality. The pub was a favorite place for eccentric personalities and those who simply liked to drink in unusual establishments to spend their free time, and in 2011 this bar won the title of the most original bar in Europe.

6. "The Clinic Bar"
SINGAPORE

Singaporeans invite tourists to visit an unusual hospital. It will not be difficult for a client with a sense of humor to imagine himself sick. This is a world famous nightclub and bar-restaurant. The extravagant D. Hirst worked on the design and concept of the establishment. When you enter the bar you will feel like you are in a morgue. Inside, instead of the usual places at tables, you will see chambers with beds and gauze curtains, and instead of chairs - wheelchairs; droppers instead of glasses, food in medical plates. Despite all this, there are plenty of people who want to relax in hospital style. After all these procedures, you can feel 100% healthy.

7. “Dans le Noir” (“In the Dark”)
NETWORK OF RESTAURANTS IN PARIS, LONDON, NEW YORK, BARCELONA, ST. PETERSBURG

Guests of this restaurant dine in complete darkness. You can enjoy a meal in the dark in several restaurants around the world, in the largest metropolises. Before entering the hall, visitors leave in the wardrobe all items that glow in the dark. Even mobile phones are no exception. Only then does the waiter escort the customers to the table. In the restaurant you will be left only with yourself and your sense of taste and smell.

8. "Eternity"
TRUSKAVETS, UKRAINE

A coffin restaurant called “Eternity” offers dinner in the Ukrainian city of Truskavets. The exterior of the building and the interior are completely related to the funeral theme. There are many funeral candles on the tables and walls. There are coffins everywhere. The menu offers dishes such as “9th day” or “40th day”; As a main course, they serve a dish called “Meet me in Paradise.” Note that the restaurant turned out to be quite popular even for wedding celebrations.

9. "The Hobbit House"
MANILA, PHILIPPINES

The only restaurant in the world where only dwarfs work, but the owners and staff call themselves exclusively hobbits. The establishment is located in the capital of the Philippines, so national dishes and live ethnic music are included.

10. "Nyotaimori"
JAPAN

In many restaurants in the land of the rising sun, food is traditionally served on a naked human body. This custom was called "Nyotaimori". Girls are specially prepared for such work: at the first stage, all hair is removed from the body, and then the girl takes a bath using a special odorless soap, and at the end she is doused with cool water. Before serving, the girl’s (or guy’s) body must reach the required temperature for serving the food (mainly sushi). Also, girls, like real plates, should be able to lie still for several hours. They are also specially trained to do this.

11. Christian Cafe
SHINJUKU, JAPAN

The interior of this cafe resembles a Christian temple. There is an iconostasis, a cross and many statues. The establishment often hosts noisy parties, so drinking cocktails, including alcoholic ones, is not uncommon here, but drunken brawls have never happened in the Christian cafe.

12. "Modern Toilet"
TAIWAN

An establishment with the proud name “Modern Toilet” is for those people whose appetite is difficult to spoil with anything, because food here is served in special plates in the shape of a toilet bowl, drinks in plastic containers for collecting tests. Visitors to the cafe sit on toilet chairs; under the transparent tables of the establishment there are ordinary sinks. All this is done, according to the manager, to refresh the taste sensations of visitors and, of course, to shock.

13. "The Owl Cafe"
JAPAN

Cat cafes in Japan will no longer surprise anyone, so very exotic establishments have begun to appear in the country. Owl themes are in fashion now. A standard cafe of this type contains 20-30 owls, which visitors are allowed to communicate with and pick up. The Japanese fell in love with drinking their usual tea or coffee in the company of such cute, but still predatory and wild birds. The cafe is usually darkened, because owls are nocturnal birds and their eyes are not accustomed to bright daylight. In these cafes, visitors can purchase owl-themed souvenirs, which, by the way, are very popular. And there are long queues at the cafe every day, but even the lucky ones who get inside are given only 1 hour for a “date” with the owls. But it's worth it!

14. "Chongqing"
CHINA

An unusual summer cafe has opened in China right in the shallow waters of a local river. The establishment has managed to gain great popularity. To the question “How much does it cost to open a cafe in such a place?” the organizers will probably answer that it’s not much, because they saved a lot on the air conditioning system. The cafe is also equipped with the usual cheap plastic chairs and tables. The depth of the river at the location of the cafe is only about 1 cm. The long summer here is known for its high temperatures and high humidity, so the cafe on the river provides an opportunity to get cool.

Just think about it, dude, secret bars! Having fun is cool, but having fun in secret from the rest of the world, in the company of a select few, is twice as cool! Of course, there is a strangeness in this idea, but you must agree: there is something special about the prospect of drinking in a place that most people have never heard of in their lives. America is full of bars like this. Maybe they will soon start appearing in Russia too. Or they have already appeared, but we don’t know!

1. Please, Don’t Tell (Please don’t tell anyone), New York

The most famous of the secret bars, if you can even call it that. You can reserve seats here, but only on the same day, starting at three o'clock in the afternoon. Getting in isn't easy either: the entrance is in a phone booth behind the hot dog stand. You need to turn the dial on the phone and it will open for you. The drinks are also interesting, some are old fashioned and some are new fashioned with bacon.

2. Noble Experiment, San Diego

You can get here through a bar with craft beer: like this, from one bar straight to another. However, if you suddenly want cocktails and can reserve a place, just click on the wall with kegs in the toilet (it really looks like old empty kegs) and a small passage will open in front of you. A giant room with skulls will open in front of you, and with it some solid drinks. The best bet here is to rely on the bartenders, who can invent a new drink right before your eyes.

3. The Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co. (Franklin Mortgage and Investment Company), Philadelphia

It's not that easy to say. They say they make the best cocktails in all of Philadelphia. The poorly lit rooms are reminiscent of the days of Prohibition - most likely, this is what the establishments where illegally sold alcoholic beverages looked like. Everything is American, no vodka-based cocktails.

4. Wilson & Wilson Private Detective Agency (Detective Agency Wilson and Wilson), San Francisco

This agency is very bad at finding criminals, but fortunately they are great at mixing drinks. In this secret place you will be given an incredibly tasty and drunken drink. The menu is made in the form of a criminal case, and you can choose anything from it - a little predictable move, but still fits into the surroundings.

5. Williams & Graham (Williams and Graham), Denver

A classic secret door in the form of a bookcase leads here. The bar prepares cocktails based on seasonal fruits and vegetables, and they turn out truly unimaginable and even kind of crazy. They also have an outstanding jug, perfect for washing down their weird drinks. This is what ingenuity means!

6. Maria’s Packaged Goods & Community Bar, Chicago

There is nothing written on the door of this bar, but it is located in a small liquor store. Surprisingly, behind such an unremarkable appearance lies one of the best bars in Chicago! Another atypical point: mixed drinks do not play a major role here, although they are also excellent. But there is a mind-blowing selection of drafts here! If you are a fan of craft beer, you will definitely appreciate this place.

7. The Gibson, Washington

There is absolutely nothing written on the door of this secret bar either, and it could easily be confused with a residential building. The atmosphere is indescribable. It's like going back to the twenties where they serve incredible modern drinks. It's dark, quiet and peaceful - definitely worth booking a place for yourself.

8. Death + Company (Death and Company), New York

You can love this bar not only for its name, but also for its special mood. The music is cool and always very appropriate (for example, the same David Bowie), the curtains and lighting set you in a mystical mood, and you literally feel like you are in a different era. The menu seems to have been bitten a little - by whom do you think?

9. Blind Barber (Blind Barber), Los Angeles and New York

If a place with that name were not a secret bar, it is unlikely that anyone would ever want to visit it. You get into it by going into the main entrance of the hairdresser and going through the secret door right behind the drain into which hair is swept in the front room. The drinks have extravagant names: “Batman”, “Smoke and Dagger” - they sound devilishly delicious, and you don’t have to be a fool to try them.

10. RH, Alexandria

Look at this unremarkable door next to the blue lantern. Is the lantern on? So the door is open! Inside you will find a quiet place in a classic style, where you can spend a relaxing evening. The drinks are mixed with house-made bitters and juices, everyone is dressed impeccably and everything that goes into your mouth is delicious and fresh.

(London)

The best bar of the year is located at the Mondrian London hotel, which in itself hints at quality and luxury. However, bar pioneers Ryan Chetiyawardana (Best Bartender 2015 of the same award) and Iain Griffiths preach a philosophy of “quality and affordability”.

Interestingly, the bar took second place last year, and third the year before. We confidently moved forward towards victory.

The design of the bar is based on a balance of noble pink, green and gold, unobtrusive and friendly service. The team focuses on creating a friendly, neighborly atmosphere within the walls of a glamorous hotel.

The cocktails, as the maestros assure, should make you think. The map, codenamed "Modern Plant Life", promotes a complex philosophy of interaction between humans, animals and plants through the prism of the food system. To make it easier to make a choice, the map is divided into 3 categories: Mint, Grapes and Hops - the three most used ingredients in the production of alcohol. The menu also has its own interpretation of the classics. And what’s also important is that the guys paid special attention to non-alcoholic drinks.

Dandelyan positions itself as an “all-day bar”; in the morning you can drink quality tea and have a meeting here, and at night a noisy group can burst in for a couple of drinks.

Even though this is a hotel bar, there are DJs playing there on weekends. The music can be called a mixture between rock, funk and disco of the late 70s early 80s. And Sunday takes place under the auspices of hip-hop. Which, don't you agree, is quite unusual for a hotel bar?

2) (London)

I can talk about this bar endlessly; a couple of paragraphs are clearly not enough. Last year's winner and top 5 for the last few years. The name of the bar is already associated with The World’s 50 Best Bars ceremony itself. The bar, like the previous one, is located at a hotel in London, this time, Savoy.

Last year, senior bartender Erik Lorincz left the bar, which is undoubtedly leading the bar to change. At least in drinks, since it was Eric who was in charge of the cocktail menu.

American Bar is living history. A monument to the culture of drinking mixed drinks, which have been prepared there for about 130 years. This place can safely be called “Classic”. Bar pioneers and revolutionaries such as Ada Coleman, Harry Craddock and Peter Dorelli worked there. Many of them are probably written about in the cocktail history books collecting dust on your shelves.

The bar's menu, entitled "Every Moment Tells a Story", is inspired by the work of famed photographer Terry O'Neil, which has long been a part of the bar. The cocktails that draw inspiration from each photograph are themselves snapshots of an experience that is always present in the bar and never gets old, but only gets better.

Each cocktail is served in a container made especially for it and a fire in the form of a camera shutter.

As for music, he is a pianist playing the best hits of American jazz. Classic in everything. The bar, by the way, is only open until midnight, no noisy parties for you.

3) MANHATTAN (Singapore)

Inspired by the golden age of American cocktail history, Asia's best bar welcomes you to a beautiful Chesterfield armchairs and rich decorations. The bar is located, again, at the luxurious A Four Seasons hotel. It captivates with its perfect balance between American hotel-inspired classic service and a simultaneous commitment to innovation.

One of these innovations at the intersection with the classics can be considered the aging of drinks in a special storage facility that can accommodate more than 100 small barrels, with various “rested” cocktails inside. Which adds, as you know, complexity and exclusive aromatics. The bar also has a collection of more than 200 types of rare bourbons, rye and craft whiskeys. A huge emphasis is placed on “artisanal” alcohol and hand-made ingredients.

The menu takes us along the road of cocktail history, with different eras along the way and twists, both cocktail and historical. There is a place for “food pairing” and a discreet “perfect service”.

Bar manager Philip Bischoff preaches the philosophy "If you're going to do something, give it your 100% or don't do it at all." At the bar you can go to brunch with alcohol for about $150. And he works right up until 7 am. It’s also worth saying that not only the drinks are inspired by the 20th century, but also the cuisine.

A huge emphasis here, as in the American bar, is on history.

4) (New York)

If the two previous bars referred to America, then Nomad is located in its very center - New York. This year the bar dropped one place down the top, but this clearly didn’t make it any worse, 3 years in the top 10. Stability is a true sign of skill. It is located, as you may have guessed, in a hotel of the same name.

The bar is inspired by old New York taverns. Bar director Leo Robitschek in his menu focuses on modified classic cocktails, where special attention is paid to exotic spirits and ingredients.

As for the design, the bar is informally called “Elephant” where you will feel luxurious among the exquisite green, gold and massive dark oak. Lots of leather and bookshelves, dim soft light. The Nomad will also receive the title of best bar in North America.

5) CONNAUGHT BAR (London)

Not long ago the bar celebrated its tenth anniversary! CONNAUGHT BAR is located in London's The Mayfair Hotel with a memorable Art Deco interior. 9 out of 10 years of its existence, the bar has been included in The World’s 50 Best Bars list! For this merit, he was awarded the title “Legend of the List”. Mixologist Ago Perrone has been in charge since its opening. This bar, like classic drinks, never gets old.

In its design, the bar refers us to the English and Irish Cubism of the 1920s. There is a lot of platinum, silver, cold white and gray colors, gold, mirrors and massive leather chairs and tables made of dark wood.

The highlight of the bar is the cart for making drinks right in front of you. The bar pays great attention to the classics, and especially the Dry Martini. Here they can prepare it to your taste using a huge number of different kinds of essences, bitters, etc.

The cocktail list is divided into several categories and is quite large (21 drinks). It was inspired by the hotel's architecture itself. It also has a classics section.

Bonus!
39) El Copitas (St. Petersburg)

A small and cozy Mexican cellar in St. Petersburg. Mezcal was on the shelves even before it officially appeared in Russia. You can talk about this bar and how it was opened forever. There are rumors that at the start the guys didn’t even have their own chairs - they were lent to “bar friends”.

El Copitas is open 3 days a week and the guys ask you to make reservations in advance. Since it is physically impossible to accommodate everyone. The bar constantly changes the menu, I could be wrong, but in my opinion once every week or two. Everything is thematic. Lots of conversation, tacos and tequila.

El Copitas bartenders often participate in various projects, and recently even published their own book in English.

And you can listen to an interview from our colleagues in the workshop, which contains a lot of interesting information about the bar and how it was opened.
