Maps of the Costa del Sol are a great help in finding your way around the resort.

When planning your holiday in Spain, many of us often came across information about southern Spanish Costa del Sol... and postponed their vacation there until later, slightly afraid of the less common and difficult to pronounce city names: Malaga, Benalmadena, Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella. In addition, the city of Marbella was superficially familiar to many of us from the expensive and fashionable vacations of celebrities, and therefore automatically inaccessible to us, parents with children, and the city of Malaga was associated with the popular football team and the wine brand of the same name.
“What should we, parents with children, do in such places?” - we thought and leafed through the offers of travel agencies, preferring to go to our previously favorite places on the Costa Brava or Costa Dorada. However, the Costa del Sol has to offer wonderful holiday in Spain at reasonable prices, primarily for those people who cannot imagine traveling without children.

Weather on the Costa del Sol

Costa del Sol translates as " shore of the sun" This southern part of Spain can rightfully be called the Sunny Beach: it is in this part that the largest number of sunny days is about 320 per year!
There is no winter here, as such, since even in the coldest months the air temperature does not drop below 20 degrees. This is why the Costa del Sol is such an attractive destination for tourists of all ages at any time of the year. There is no sweltering heat here, and the periodically cool currents of Gibraltar pleasantly cool those swimming in the sea during the hottest months of summer.
You can safely go here with both the youngest children and older children, since the mild pleasant climate is easily tolerated at any age and that terrible word “acclimatization”, which every parent thinks about when choosing a vacation spot, is forgotten in the first days after arrival.

Costa del Sol: map and resorts

The coast itself stretches 50 km along the Mediterranean Sea, and approximately 150 km inland. Here map of Costa del Sol, Spain, click on the image to enlarge (you can also download the map to your computer by right-clicking on it and selecting “Save image as”)

The administrative center of this Spanish province is the main transport hub of the coast. There is also an airport and the oldest port in Spain. Despite the fact that the city is a kind of business center of the coast, it is good for accommodation there with the smallest children, since the developed infrastructure and transport links allow you to get to the desired place in the southern part of Andalusia in a matter of time, and the sea and beaches are the same clean, like on the entire coast.
From Malaga you can get independently to almost any resort town on the Costa del Sol, so if you want to get away from the usual bustle of the city, then welcome to Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella or Estepona.

Torremolinos is the closest beach resort to Malaga, but despite its proximity to the administrative center (about 10 km), the noise from landing planes is not heard here. In addition to its sonorous and difficult to pronounce name, Torremolinos boasts beautiful beaches, delicious fish restaurants, and one of the best. In the west, the city smoothly passes into the borders of its neighbor, Benalmadena, which, in our opinion, is an ideal place for a holiday with children of any age.

This is a kingdom with a rich history and culture. The Spaniards are real perfectionists: in painting, music, dancing and, of course, in relaxation. This amazing country boasts the warmest climate in all of Southern Europe. The unique color and gentle summer sun are loved by tourists from all over the world. One of the brightest places is Andalusia, or more precisely, the Costa del Sol (Spain).

Southern regions

  • Andalusia (amazing with the beauty of such ancient cities as Granada, Seville and Cordoba);
  • Murcia (will delight lovers of museums and festivals);
  • Balearic Islands (this includes the island of Ibiza, beloved by young people);
  • Canary Islands (with the world-famous capital Tenerife).

The Spaniards themselves consider Andalusia with its southernmost coast - the Costa del Sol - to be the most cheerful region. Finding it on the map is not difficult. Types of recreation

For beach lovers, the season opens in May and lasts until October. Neither clouds nor rain will ruin your mood. This coast has one peculiarity: due to the waters of the Strait of Gibraltar, the water warms up only in July. And the peak of summer heat falls during the same period. Therefore, vacationers need to be careful if they take children with them. Harmony between air and water temperatures appears only in September. But you can be absolutely sure that the beaches are clean. This is evidenced by the many blue flags along the coast. The best beach for children is Pedregalejo. There are very convenient descents into the water here.

The holiday will be special for children too. If you don’t want to be with your baby among crowds of tourists, you should choose a small resort in advance. But there will definitely be no problems with leisure time. For children there are swimming pools and water parks, play centers and zoos. In special parks you can observe animals in their natural habitat.

Note! For those who cannot live without holidays, the Costa del Sol is exactly what they need. The opening of the sardine season is celebrated in early May, and Saint John is celebrated in June. In August, you should never miss the Columbus holidays and the big fair in Malaga.

  • It is best to go shopping in January or July. It's true sales season. At this time you can save a lot on purchases.
  • It is best to take care of exchanging euros at home. In Spain, it is preferable to change money only at bank branches. The disadvantage is that they only work half a day.
  • Obtaining a visa to Spain is impossible without obtaining health insurance. There is no need to skimp on it. This is a guarantee of receiving quality services.
  • You shouldn't let your guard down while on vacation. Unfortunately, pickpocketing at resorts happens very often. It is not recommended to carry all the money with you at once and you need to watch your passport very carefully. It is better to ask the hotel if they have lockers for storing valuables.

Costa del Sol is a favorite holiday destination for Russian tourists. Modern resorts will give you varied and interesting leisure time, which you will be happy to tell your friends about for a long time.
